When the season begins we hunt with pointing dogs. The birds sit on
the ground and eats berries and grass. The dog searches near to the
hunter and when the dog makes contact, it will point the bird. The
hunter move hastily towards the dog and on a given signal from the
guide the dog will flush the bird who will try to escape. Once the
bird takes to the wings the hunter can make the shot.
This hunting form is very exciting and filled with action. The hunt
is performed in mixed biotope; old and young forest, in the border
zone between moors and forest.
We only use fully trained dogs and we train them year round to
ensure the quality of the hunt. Remember that this
hunt can sometimes be physical demanding since it is important to
move quickly when the dog points. We normally hunt all day with
breaks for coffee and a longer break for lunch and rest in the
forest or at the camp.
You can also combine this hunt with a ptarmigan hunt,
